When the day comes that I actually have kids, my plan is for them to have a name that is not super-popular (at least not in the top 20). I hope this will be helpful in their life so there aren't so many other kids with the same name. No doubt that today's daycares & school classrooms are full of Madisons & Avas and Aidans & Jakes just like there was a lot of Jennifers & Jessicas and Michaels & Matthews when I was growing up. (Not that there is anything wrong with this, it's just my personal preference.) This is not as easy as it seems...I believe almost all of my friends & family's children's names are on this list. I am looking at the top 100 names for 2007 and I don't think I can come up with many names not on here...
The chart below is listed by number of popularity followed by boys name and girls name for that ranking. Let's see how creative you all are and let us know if you have a child with a name that's not on the list! (Keep in mind that alternate spellings may or may not be listed but it still counts for that number (ex. Aidan, Aiden, Aaden, etc. are all included under #1 Aidan).
Looking forward to getting some good responses!!

My two boys are NOT in the top 100: Tyson & Preston
OK. I don't. As a matter of fact, I chose one that is really POPULAR. I'm lame . . . but, at least it is Biblical, right. That's good, right. Whatever.
Here's the deal. In a teen movie from the 80's there was this HOT jock guy and I had a HUGE crush on him. In the end the awkward girl gets the guy. Yeah! Go awkward girl! The HOT jock guy is the inspiration for my little one's name. I NEVER tell family this story . . . EVER.
I found you through Random Thoughts. Hope you don't mind me snooping! :)
You had me curious...so I looked.
I have four kids, also known as # 46, 55, 71 and 83. So much for being origional! LOL
Eliza is not on the list! Most of the time I just get weird looks when I say she is named after Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. When she was born at 6lbs we called her Eliza Toolittle.
Both my kids are on the list- but at least after the halfway mark! I tried to have names there were fun and a bit different, without being so out there my kids would get made fun of. So, Ashlyn and Riley (I used it for a boy though, not a girl) were how we decided to go.
Also- since my hubby and I are both teachers- we were trying to avoid names that reminded us of difficult students.
After swearing my children would not have common names, I feel in love with #11 on the list for my DD. Thankfully she has been the only one in her nursery rooms so far. :)
On the other extreme, some people try so hard to give their kids unique names, the practically curse their kids to a life of being asked to spell it or called something similar but not their name...
Well Blake is #75, but the two top names for baby boy #2 are not on the list (Shane and Kolby)
Our baby girl name is on the list in a different spelling. Her name is Maya, and it aper as Mia.
Yep, you got me Dan. Madison is definatley on that list. If #2 is a boy his name is up there too but if I remember correctly you liked that name too. If it is a girl however her name will probably not be on the list. Justin is hooked on Shaelynn and I won't budge from Stella. Looks like we may have to find an alternative.
