Baby Shower Ideas & Fun with Rectal Thermometers

Before I get to my cute baby shower ideas I am going to tell you why taking your baby's rectal temperature on lack of sleep can be hazardous to your health. I took Eliza's temperature the other night to see how her fever was doing. I am a crazy mom who always things the thermometer is lying and that my daughter really has a 105 degree fever even though the reading says it is 100.8. So after I take her temperature and it is about 100.4 I decide I am going to take my own temperature. Now I have NEVER really had a temperature. I know it is hard to believe but it is true.I just don't run fevers and I never have. After giving birth I had a low grade fever of like 99. Pathetic! So when I take my temperature- under my arm- it comes out to 94.6. Now I am thinking the stupid thing is broke even though the hubs only bought it five hours earlier. So I am like the arm pit must be inaccurate and I go to pout the thing in my mouth. Oh yea! It was in Eliza's booty not only 10 minutes before. Good thing I realized what I was doing and stopped myself. Good Grief!

I know I have a few baby showers coming up and I am trying to think of some fun gifts for the moms-to-be. I know many go the registry route but I think sometimes the best gifts are the unexpected ones that really come in handy. At my shower a friend gave me the cutest gift. She used an inflatable duck from Munchkin and filled it with tons of bath goodies. It was awesome. This is great go to idea. Here I am with my tub-goodies!

Also, I have been thinking of putting together a Happiest Baby on the Block gift basket. I would choose from a few of the following items depending on my price range.

What are your fun baby shower gift ideas?

Cute idea!!!!

We had a shower where a whole bunch of us chipped in and bought the travel system. Then we filled the baby seat with lots of goodies.. onsies, binkies, bottles, socks, hats, all the little necessities and wrapped it in celephane like it was a basket! Then there were extra stuff we just threw in the bottom of the stroller basket.. it was very cute!

I love to buy the diaper bag off the registry and fill it with diapers, wipes, cream, baby tylenol, and a fun toy.

It's fun to take something they registered for and make it personal. Your Happiest Baby on the Block idea sounds like a good one.

Those are CUTE ideas. If I was getting baby gifts, I would totally want those. I'm not good at being creative and original....I wish I was - I'm a dud. So glad you didn't put that thermometer in your mouth! ;)

The last few showers that I have gone to I've bought stuff for when the baby is 6-9 months old. One thing I learned as a mom is you get everything for the first what 6 months then you are out on the hunt for new clothes, toys, etc... One time I got a kick piano that Blake loved no only in his crib but on the floor. Another I got one of the push walker/ cars that to this day Blake still loves to play with. But then again, I love the cute baby gifts too

I kid you not, I gave four of these at the last baby shower I attended. I SWEAR by Happiest Baby, swaddling, and sound machines!
