A Big Step...

OK. So I know I am going to catch a lot of crap for this but Pete and I signed up Eliza with a modeling/talent management company I am not saying that I think Eliza is the cutest baby or anything like that or that I am going to be one of those crazy stage moms pushing my daughter to do crazy things. I just have some time off this summer ( possible longer) and thought it would be fun. Fun for who? Fun for me? Fun for her? I am not sure. This might be a huge mistake- but I hope it isn't.

Part of this is a challenge for myself. I suffer from a great deal of social anxiety-though people who know me would often never suspect this. Doing new things is very difficult for me and I am not afraid to admit it- because I think it people talked about it more we could all be a whole lot happier. I will have to take Eliza into Manhattan (way, way, way out of my comfort zone) for casting calls. I see this as an opportunity to build confidence in myself and become less dependent on Pete to get me through tough situations. I will also need to be more confident about making phone calls and talking to people in positions of authority.

I don't want Eliza to suffer the way I have with anxiety. I want her to be bold, and confident and assertive. The best way for me to help Eliza be strong is to make myself strong. Like I said before, this could turn out to be a freakin nightmare. I am sure some of you are shaking your head at me and my decision.

that is awesome...i am so jealous. i have always wished i could have a kid who was so cute that they could be in a magazine. kids who get a lot of work can definitely make some money for college!

looking forward to seeing eliza in commercials :)

also good for you for facing your fears and doing a great mom/daughter activity. can't wait to say that i knew eliza before she was famous!!!

I know we spoke about it already but I think it is great that you did this for Eliza.. And for you!

She really is sooo cute and will do great..

Some of my students go on casting calls all the time - so it could be worth it for both of you, especailly since you have time off this summer... Hey - I have time off to.. I'll go with you for some of those trips to NYC.. You know I love it there!

YAY- Go Eliza!!!

First of all....don't worry about what others think. You are Eliza's mommy and you know how to best take care of her (and you).

That is awesome! I wish you the best with it all and I hope it goes well.

by the way- you said you have time off this summer and maybe longer....are you thinking of staying home? I wish you the best.

I think it is a great idea--for both of you. You are so not the stage mother type, so no worries there.

This is a great way to get out, challenge yourself, provide a unique experience for Eliza.

"Doing new things is very difficult for me and I am not afraid to admit it." I hear ya!!

Enjoy it!!! And fill us in on how the calls go!

BTW--she is ADORABLE!!!

I don't think this is a bad thing...unless parents are pushing and pushing their kids to get involved and put too much emphasis on looks and stuff like that. But I know that you won't do that, so I say go for it!!

Sounds exciting! Everything is an experience and I think this will turn out to be a great one. She really does need to put her cuteness to good use lol. Good luck and have fun with it.

I think this will be fun to do over the summer! Also, great for you to get out of your comfort zone. Who knows what you'll learn and discover about yourself?

That is so cool! How did you go about it? I have a lot of people tell me I need to put the Bean in it.
Love your blog!

You are definately doing it for all the right reasons. It is not like you decided to do this so you can become rich and famous and mooch off of your kid. Besides she is already a ham so why not put it to good use! Can't wait to see how it turns out. What agency did you use and what did you have to do to get started. I've talked to a few for Madison but haven't loved anyone yet so we are still in limbo.

I think it is a great idea and it will be fun if you make it fun and keep it positive. I have a little one too and I happened to mention to my husband today that it is the best time for it because she is still a baby and won't know the difference if she gets the job or not. Therefore, it will not affect her in any way. I'm sure you both will have a great time.
