The Cheese Stands Alone

So last night E woke up around 1:30 and started crying. We tried everything to put her back down. We gave her a drink, rocked her, and even let her watch TV! SO not my idea. This went on for two hours and Pete and I were losing our minds. We didn't think she was teething or else we would have given her some Tylenol. Finally we decided to ask her what was wrong. I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner.

Pete asks, "Eliza, what do you want?"

Eliza does the sign for cheese.

We laugh and ask her again.

Same response. CHEESE!

Desperate for some sleep, I ask Pete to go downstairs and get half a cheese stick left in the fridge. Pete feeds her the cheese. Eliza lays down and goes back to sleep.

THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE!

I just hope E does not wake up every night wanting a snack. I pumped her full of high protein foods before bed tonight hoping if it was hunger that woke her up last night she would stay good and full up tonight.

Keep your fingers crossed! I have half a cheese stick on hand just in case...

Wow - that's amazing! My daughter has just started sleeping through the night 5 days ago. Fingers crossed that it keeps up!

I have a few cards with signs to teach babies. I think I need to start looking at them.

My daughter turns 1 next week - too late to start?

Awww...that's so cute! What a good save! Sign language coming through. What books or videos do you have to teach her? We have a Baby Einstein and The Book of Signs- it's a kid book about 5 pages...it has the basic signs. I heart sign language. :) Glad to hear that's all it was- Cheese.

Ha! That is hilarious. You know, if you didn't have to actually live through it.

haha! That is SOOO funny...and cute - minus the fact that you missed out on your beauty sleep! Hopefully she'll have a cheese-less night for you tonight. :)

Ha! Who was laughing at me last week for having a baby that wouldn't sleep? That is so cool that she can tell you what she needs/wants!

That's awesome! The baby sign language sounds like such a cool thing to share with her, and the fact that she signed cheese makes me smile.

Here's to hoping she goes to sleep without trouble for the next few nights.
