Book Clubs/Magazines for Kids

For some strange reason this morning I started wondering if they make magazines for two year olds. I am always trying to think of ideas for E's birthday present. We REALLY don't need any more toys. I love books, magazines and reading. I also love the idea of something arriving in the mail. I think having a book or magazine arrive regularly for E would be a gift that kept on giving for the whole year.

I googled magazines for two year olds and came up with one called The Tessy and Tab Reading Club. It was cute but it only had one story and at the end were some worksheet like pages. I was looking for something with a little more variety.

Then Doulamama on twitter directed me to another mag called Babybug which I liked even better. It comes nine times a year, is 24 pages and contains stories and poems. You can view a sample mag on the site.

So I hope to order Babybug for Eliza. I think it is a great gift idea for others as well!!

Please let me know if you have your child enrolled in a monthly book club or magazine. I am very curious about other companies providing this service.

I have been wondering this too. The babybug is really cute but more than we can afford right now. I always read Highlights as a kid but I think it is for older children. I also think Sesame Street has a magazine but I don't know how good it is.

Blake was given Wild Animal Baby (national wildlife) magazine. it was ok, I think it would have been better for him this year than last year

We love BabyBug! Our neighbor found a huge pile of back issues at a garage sale. I think I'll start putting them in our mail box (one every few weeks or so) with DS's name on them (like a mailing label) so he can collect them for himself. I also have given Wild Animal Baby and National Geographic Little Kids mags as gifts.

We are doing the same thing for T-Man this yr. for his birthday... I'm actually looking for some back issues of Ranger Rick on Freecycle. Babybug looks really cute.

We love Wild Animal Baby and National Geographic's Baby Magazine. Both are perfect for the 1-3 year old crowd.

When Ashyn was younger she got some Seseme Steet magazine- but I forget how we even signd up for that. There is a National Geographic Little Kids magazine too- it says it is for ages 3 - 6. But I think you could do it with E too!

That is a really good idea! I know that Swae has been bringing home the Scholastic things from school and we have been ordering books from there. They like picking them out. And now that she is reading, she is having a ball.
