now that the boring stuff is over...
I was having problems with E breaking all the crayons I bought her. She would snap them within minutes of using them. And she is not a fan of those plastic toddler crayon thingy things that Crayola makes. So what is a mommy to do with lots of crayon bits? Make some muffin tin crayons. I like to think we were recycling in the spirit of The Lorax
First, take off the paper and put them in the tray.
Bake at 250 until they melt. It took about 10 minutes.
Let them cool (I was impatient and put mine in the freezer).
Pop them out and Viola!
Time to color!

I made them before... I should go pull them out and let Blake try them
I found that the fat Crayolas lasted better when Blake was E's age. He didn't like the crayola holder things either.
Very cool. This is the second time I saw this crayon craft!
This project is awesome! I love it - what a great idea.
We are snowed in too.
yummy menu! we had snow today but not a snow day from school- it took me an hour and a half to get to work so maybe we should have had a snow day. Blah! Glad you and E were safe at home and could enjoy the snow inside!
I can't wait to do this. I have been waiting to save more "restaurant" and cheap crayons though. :-)
very cool..... i have done this many times... the kids love it..
are those still fron the big bag of crayons i gave you?
What a neat idea! I usually buy the thick/fat crayons, but he would LOVE this!
Those look like a lot of fun. I can't wait to try this out when we accumulate enough. It's such a great way to recycle crayons.
Sounds like good eats this week too! ;P Also, I'm glad to hear everything with E is okay- that's terrifying. Enjoy the snow. :)
Cute idea with the crayons... I think I've done that B4. But way way long ago. Being that my oldest is 21 and my baby is 12! Have you cooked playdoh yet on these snowy days? I LOVED doing that. It calmed me down more than the kids. ANd you can add lavender or vanilla for extra calming. MMMmmmmm I miss my kdis being that young.
Can't snap those in two, huh, Eliza?! Those are great!
Sweet crayons! Esme just eats hers - maybe these won't look as edible?
And I tried that vegan mac&cheese recipe - hubby & I enjoyed it, but little miss didn't touch it. I need to save out some mac for her next time and let her eat it with ketchup, I guess.
Oh! Great idea! The only thing is my daughter would probably eat them. She's almost two and is still putting everything in her mouth! Is this normal?
