Clicking My Ruby Reds Three Times

and I am flying to Kansas for Thanksgiving.

And even though I wish we were flying in a great big air balloon courtesy of the wizard, we are flying by plane. We are off to Kansas to visit with my brother-in-law and his family. Eliza is going to meet her cousin Nolan for the very first time. They are close in age so it is exciting and I am sure they will have a blast.

It is our first time flying with E. I am a little nervous because she isn't always cooperative- especially when it comes to sitting still. We did not purchase a seat for Eliza so she will be sitting on our laps. Luckily, I have a great product to review during the flight. It is the Baby B'Air Flight Vest. The flight vest is geared towards making flight safer for babies. Here is an informational video on the product. I am sure the best picture we we will be able to get on the plane is with a camera phone.

After my flight I will let you know how it worked for us. Although I think it is a great concept I am not sure E will be a willing tester.

Does anyone have any tips for flying with little ones? I figure snacks, toys, etc. But I am figuring that she last her for about 5 minutes!

The vest is an awesome idea! The part of the infomercial where they talk about increased infant highway deaths was a little overkill though. I know you are not big on tv with Eliza but if you want to borrow it we have a portable DVD that she can watch Beby Einstein on. It was a huge help the first time we flew with Madison. She was 14 months old a did great even with a 1 1/2 delay on the ground. Gotta love EWR!

My little ones have not been on a plane just yet... I wanted to fly out to see my sister in TX, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. We are going to drive out there for Thanksgiving though...
I hope you have a great time in Kansas!!!

we'll be flying with annabel the week before thanksgiving, so i share in your anxiety! a friend told me to try to wait to feed her during takeoff and again at landing (or let her suck on a paci) to help with the pressure on her ears.

also (and this is advice i'll have to remember for myself) try not to worry about what other passengers think. only your child's comfort matters, and hearing a baby cry isn't going to kill them. people pay for a seat on a plane, not a noise-free ride. it annoys me when people get mad about a crying baby on a plane. it's not like the parents are pinching the baby to make it cry just to annoy the other passengers on purpose!

I flew to CA with K alone and she was great! I ended up giving her some benadryl (with dr's permission) after the first 2 hours, b/c she wouldn't go to sleep. Have a new toy or two to reveal on the flight and let her do LOTS of walking up and down the aisle, she'll love seeing new people!

we went from PA to CA with one stop each way. all together we were on 4 planes, only ONE of them had a changing station in the bathroom. so i had to change N on the floor!! so i would suggest a blanket to lie down to change her on ontop of what u normally would change her on in public. cause i had to do it in the back of the plane where the stewardess sat and preaped food/drinks. so who knows what is on the floor!
best of luck!

Not to be negative, but we flew up to Michigan from S.C. for Christmas last year when Pooky was 13 months old, and it was awful. Snacks is the best answer I have for you, and probably some prayer wouldn't help!

This last time we flew, he was a bit older and we took our portable DVD player, so watching Bob the Builder for the flight worked great, but Eliza is probably a bit young for that yet.

My kids are great travelers. I think it's just all personality. They can sit or they can't. Hope E can sit!! On the Wizard note... my son is going to be the Tin Man for Halloween. he just loved the book!

I'm sure she'll be fine. (: That's a cool idea, so hopefully it'll work out and make things easier.

Also, random story about me as a child: During my first flight, I sang songs to the moon. And I impressed strangers with my vocabulary. ... I was 3.
