Drink More Water and the CamelBak water bottle review

So we all know I am not the healthiest person in the world! I have been trying to become a little more conscious of my body considering bathing suit season is only a few short months away. A couple weeks ago I decided to get my act together - not just to lose some weight, but to become more healthy in general. I am the first person to admit that I quit the gym because it was cutting into my nap time. Yes that's right. The guy at the gym seemed to think I was joking when I gave him that reason...he was like "you know you would be a lot less tired if you exercised". Yeah well that may be true, but napping wasn't costing me $50 a month and I didn't have to take a shower afterwards.

Ok...so getting back to my new plan of being healthy. As some of you know, I purchased Hip Hop Abs and have been doing it for a whopping 7 days. I also try to eat healthy during the week and drink more water. I had the chance to review a product called the CamelBak Better Bottle which is really helping with that goal.

It is recommended that people drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. The first time I heard that, I was like is there water in soda because I drink about 6 cans in a day. Other than the fact that my sister in law (a.k.a. my dentist) has basically told me that my teeth are going to rot out of my head...I also feel like it is not proper to start off my day with a diet dr pepper at 8 am. In general, I can not stand drinking water. I will not drink water in a restaurant, from a sink faucet, or even from a Brita pitcher. The only way I will drink water is if it's a name brand sealed bottle. So because of this insanity, I have been buying those jumbo packs of half liter water bottles. It seemed like a good idea until I heard the following information (provided by CamelBak)...

With the growth in bottled water consumption in the United States, more than 50 billion plastic bottles are thrown away each year, raising a number of environmental concerns. It takes about 1.5 million barrels of oil to make the bottles for the bottled water Americans use each year, enough to fuel 100,000 cars. In addition, only about 23 percent of these bottles are recycled. Other than clogging up the landfills, disposable water bottles also raise the cost of the water that we all buy. Switching to reusable bottles has been the smartest solution, and now water bottles are not only a workout/adventure accessory, they are frequently seen on campuses, in school backpacks, and even in the workplace.

Then came the news that reusable plastic water bottles might be putting some unhealthy chemicals into the water we’re drinking (BPA, bisphenol-A or phthalates). These chemicals are notable to parents, parents-to-be, and kids because they may adversely affect the reproductive system and hormones.

CamelBak is starting to make all its bottles BPA-free, and it’s starting with the “Better Bottle” with the Classic Cap. It maintains the look and feel (not to mention the cool colors) of conventional portable water bottles, but it’s BPA-free. CamelBak hopes to make all its products BPA-free by this summer.

This water bottle is working out great for me. I have switched from buying the smaller water bottles to the jumbo jugs. I drink much more water than I used to, and I also feel good that I am saving money, helping the environment, and not getting any weird chemicals mixed with my water. My favorite feature of this water bottle is that it is dishwasher safe! It also has measuring marks on the outside so I can mix in my crystal light powder when I don't want just boring old water. If you are interested in more information or to purchase one of these great water bottles, check out their website or your local Sports Authority, REI, or LL Bean.

Well I'm off to drink some more water. This healthy living stuff is going so well I might consider going all the way & turning vegan. Just kidding :)
