My little string bean is about to outgrow her travel system car seat. I am bowing down to all of you bloggy goddesses and asking for your help What are your recommendations for car seats. It seems there are so many to choose from and I am not sure where to begin.

Wow that happened fast! I love, love, love my Evenflo Triumph that we have for Madison. It had high safety ratings, was reasonably priced and the straps have a super easy dial on the side for adjusting in seconds (depending on what Eliza is wearing the adjustments are way importnat). Madison's looks like it has been through a war after almost 3 years of use and she is no where near being the weight for a booster so I registered for the same carseat for Stella. I checked out the Britax but that seemed super spendy and not as easy to use. Good luck on your search!
I know a few people with Britax car seats who were specifically shopping for that brand only when it was time to switch from the infant car seat. My niece has one and it is great. She seems very comfortable and very safe. The car seat is very sturdy...she is 3 years old (today!) and there is not really any wear & tear on the seat that I can see. There are a few different models available and they cost more than the competition but I think this is one time you should go for a quality item. Good luck picking a car seat and I'm sure you are looking forward to not carrying that infant seat all around!
What a milestone - congrats! It is fun to go to the next step. I agree that Britax is the best, but that one is out of our price range! We chose Evenflo Comfort touch for our little boy and love it. IT is easy to adjust, very big and comfy, and easy to strap into the car! We also have an Alpha Omego Elite that we bought for our eldest and now our second daughter uses. IT is about 5 years old and still in really good shape1 I have to say that the straps twist on it a good bit, which is a pain, but overall a good carseat.
Have fun!
I can DEFINITELY relate to the which car seat? dilemma... I know that Britax has the best rep for safety, but they are almost $300!!!
I just bought a 3 in 1 Eddie Bauer from our wholesale club (BJ's) for $99. It will go from 5-100 lbs....good for Kaelin now and when she needs a booster, later!
After doing a bit of research I got Blake the Evenflo Triumph for both cars. He needed to have a convertible car seat too and I decided the Britax was just more than I wanted to spend when I found that the Triumph had similar ratings on most of the tests.
J is still in his travel system (thank goodness), but know it won't be for much longer. So, I am interested in hearing what people comment . . . great question!
Oh boy I think I'll be there soon too. I don't know of specific brands to recommend but the above comments sound great. I do think the 3 in 1's are a great option. My son is also in a 3 in 1 Eddie Bauer and it still looks like new. He'll be 4 next week so it will be time to convert it to just a booster. Good luck!
We have a Graco Comfort Sport. It had good ratings and was reasonably priced.
We also have a Graco Comfort Sport and have been pleased with it.
It sounds like you got some good suggestions on brands, etc. I think that anything that can be used for more then one stage is a good buy- for example, rear facing, forward facing and then booster. Good luck!
I've heard that Britax is the best too...but we don't have that kind since it was too much money. However, I would recommend getting one that can still be rear-facing because it is a LOT safer to keep your kids rear-facing as long as you can. We have one that can be rear facing or forward facing...and of course we still have Tate in the rear facing position (and he is going to be 2 in august!)
We went with the Britax Marathon...we loved it so much we bought a second for the new minivan. Yes, they were expensive but they will last until she is into a booster...and likely through the next child too.
