Poo on the Rug and Signing to My Cats

"Mommy... Poo Poo."

Not my favorite thing to hear these days. I am just wondering why Eliza poos on the rug when she has a potty sitting right next to her.

I am all about letting her go diaper free- but I have rug and pee and poo on the rug are NO fun. I feel like I just brought home an 8 week old puppy. I wish I had a backyard so I could let her her run around stark naked and not worry about mess.

in other news...

I have started signing to the cats. They were annoying me for food the other day and I signed wait. I didn't mean to but I guess it is just a habit. I think Gary actually understood what I meant.

Maybe I can teach Gary to go on the potty.

and some interesting Potty Training Info from Potty Training Concepts

In the 1950's, almost a 100% of children wore cloth diapers and 95% of these children were trained by the age of 18 months.

In the 1980s, about 50% of children wore cloth diapers, while the other 50% wore disposable diapers and only about 50% of the children were potty trained by the age of 18months.

Today, almost 90-95% of children wear disposable diapers and only about 10% of children are potty trained by the age of 18 months.

Today, the average age for potty training is about 30 months with the age ranging from 18-60 months.

Gary is awesome I miss him! I definitely see that there is a link between cloth diapers & potty training. I don't know if I will be able to cloth diaper my kids, depending on who is watching them and many other variables, but I absolutely HATE when kids wear pullups. They are basically diapers and do not give the child a reason to pee in the potty when they can just pee in their pull up and be fine and dandy. I remember those weird heavy cotton training underpants and when you peed all over yourself you knew it and didn't like it! I think that would potty train a child much quicker than a pull up and would also be cheaper and better for the environment at the same time.

Gosh, those figures are very interesting. I guess disposable diapers made it easier for us to be slack on potty training? My daughter is 16months but I can't see teaching her to use the potty at 18months. I guess in my mind, she is too small to use the potty. I don't know but I guess I need to get on it. LOL

Haha! I found poo on my rug today too- LOL! Not fun. Those facts are amazing...I read a few similar facts in the E.C book. It's so sad that the age frame is much later now. The idea of having an 18 mos. old potty trained would be such a delight. Oh, the joys of motherhood- I hope Mr. T & E get this business down before long! ;)

This posts cracks me up! Eliza is a hoot! We have kids for this kind of enjoyment. :)

Those stats are AMAZING! I always wish I would have done cloth diapers with one of my kids. With the way our environment is, maybe it will come back around to being "popular"!

What about using cotton panties? They would contain the poo at least, but still let her feel the wet/dirtiness? Pee is at least easier to deal with (in that it's sterile and nontoxic... my views on urine have completely changed since having a kid lol).

BTW Donovan pooped in his potty again yesterday! However I can only really tell when he's pooping when he's having a hard time of it, and today he pooped 3 times and I had no idea till afterwards so couldn't get him to the potty. Oh well.
