Pregnancy Update

Here is my big belly at 35+ weeks. Had my OB appointment this morning and all was well. My Strep B came back negative which is good. The doctor said the baby has dropped. I hadn't really thought about it until she said something. The I realized that a few days ago I started to have some painful twinges and pressure down lower. I also have been more energetic-probably because I can breathe a little easier.

It is hard to believe that I had Eliza at 38 weeks. That is just about 2 1/2 weeks from now. I don't feel as ready as I did with E. I had A LOT of time on my hands before E was born. I spent an entire summer puttering around and being pregnant. I think my hospital bag was packed 8 weeks in advance. We are getting there this time around-but don't think my house will ever be ready-not when I have a toddler to chase and clean up after!

I know a lot of women get to a point when they feel ready to have a baby. I actually love being pregnant and never reached that point with E. In my opinion pregnancy is the easy part. It was the fourth trimester that was tough. Aside from starting to feel uncomfortable at night I really can't complain. However, I do a great impression of a cockroach on its back trying to get out of bed at night.

I am working on getting mentally prepared for the birth. I have been trying to deal with the negative feelings I still harbor from Eliza's birth. I know I need to get control of my anxiety and fear if I am going to experience natural childbirth. Pete and I have a prebirth hospital visit on Sunday and I hope to get some questions answered. I want birth in my own clothes. I was just not comfortable giving birth in a hospital gown that was huge on me.I know they have a jacuzzi tub at the hospital. I asked my OB today if women actually use the tub or if it was just something they advertise. She said that women do use it which was reassuring. She also mentioned I let them know in Triage that I want to go natural so that they can try to assign me a nurse leans towards natural childbirth.

and that's all for now because it is nap time and this pregnant momma needs to enjoy her rest while it is still an option!

come on August 18th baby :)

I never thought of the birth in your own clothes thing...from what I see on tv & in photos, those gowns are large on a lot of women and sometimes they unsnap which I could see as annoying also. I have heard of some people buying their own gowns but they are kind of expensive. Guess I never really gave it much thought but if I had the choice I would probably rather go with a tank top and socks and just cover up everything with the sheet/blanket?

Let me know what you decide and if your doctor/hospital gives you any crap about it. I did see one girl on the baby story that called the hospital to ask if she could buy her own gown & bring it and they said yes but when she got there they gave her such a hard time about it. Does it really matter?? As long as the nurses & doctors can do whatever they need to do to you, who cares?

I'm glad that you are still feeling good and the pregnancy is still going well. Your little one will be here before you know it! I think it is great that you have thought out so many things and have good plans in place. Good luck!

With wearing your own clothes, what would you wear? I'm feeling you on the baby belly shots. Yesterday DH took some new photos of me, and it made me look for all of the various ones through out pregnancy. I was shocked to see the changes from 11 wks to now (37 wks).

I'm due August 15th, but as of this past Thursday, the midwife told me it could be hours, days or even a week, but that I won't make it to mid August already dilated and effaced. We'll see!

Good luck, sending you positive vibes. You just need to get yourself in the right mind set and you can do it. C was born naturally (drug free) it's really not as bad as people make it to be.

I had my own night gown; but I ended up taking it off when I went in the jacuzzi and never put it back on. It was fantastic to have the freedom to move as one please.

I spent my full labor in the jacuzzi, until I had to push it seemed to help me a lot. If you end up needing a fetal monitor as I did, most hospitals have some called a mermaid that can go in the water with you.

It's funny....I felt much the same as you...i loved being pregnant and never really had that "I'm over it...I'm done" feeling! Even with this one.

I hope the birth is just as lovely as you are hoping!

Also, just because E was early doesn't necessarily mean that 2 will be too (I thought that would happen to me) but I went into labor the night before I had a scheduled C/s on my due date with this one! haha!
