TGIF and I REALLY mean that..this is so random

It has been a rough week for me because I am a big baby who really needs the help of her husband and no I am not afraid to admit it. Not having him home at night nearly did me in---OK maybe I am exaggerating a little. But a lot of the fly lady flew out the window even though I did my best to stay the course. But I did get E's toys organized!

E has had a much better week so far since Sunday. Should I go back and delete that right now. Did I just ruin any chance of continued good behavior? She has been throwing tantrums less which leads me to believe she wasn't feeling 100% for a few days last week. I also think she just has a mercurial temperament and I need to deal with it! What can I say. She is Fierce like her momma.

in other news...

The cloth diaper Houdini has figured out how to take her cloth diapers off. She can even get them off while wearing pants. TA DA! So she takes off her diaper, runs away, pees on the rug, It isn't pretty. The Velcro is wearing fast on my $$$ Bum Genius Diapers and although I really like them I can't afford to replace them. Additionally, they seem to irritate her a little on her hips which causes me concern. So I have resorted to using disposables because I am not sure what to do. She can't seem to get the disposables off---well at least not yet.I can't use cloth with snaps because she barely stays still long enough for me to do Velcro. Diapering is a common source of tantrums for her so i try to make it as pleasant as possible.

and in more exciting news

Eliza has learned how to walk on her tippy toes, stack blocks and open the cabinet to get out her O cereal! She is also becoming a wiz at animal sounds- gobble gobble gobble! Now if I could just teach her to use this Swiffer we'd be set! Do you see the fear in the cat's eyes?

I am sorry if I haven't been by your blog. Since the Kamikaze kid has stated launching herself from her pack-n-play I haven't had much down time. My reader is at 334 and counting! but I promise I will catch up soon!

First Week Flying!

I have been using the FlyLady system for about a week and so far so good. I am not following it to a tee however because I think having a toddler makes some things difficult. For example, waking up before my family is not realistic right now for me. E sleeps in the bed so I need to act as a barrier- hee hee. Also, the getting dressed first thing in the morning just doesn't work for me. For one thing, unless I am putting on a warm sweat suit, the thought of putting on cold jeans on a winter morning is just torture. So I get dressed when E goes down for her first nap. This works very well for me and for E too. I still lay out all my clothes at night- I just don't put them on until 10:00. I know I am a lazy a$$. In the summer maybe I will get dressed to flip flops in the early morn- but who knows!

The morning routine and bedtime routine have helped me tremendously. I am just a flybaby so my routines are still brandy new. I know most of you are probably thinking DUH! but I really need a set routine or I am lost.

Here is what I do in the morning....every morning.

  1. Get up
  2. Start Laundry if needed
  3. Make/Eat/Clean Up Breakfast
  4. Check e-mail/blog
  5. Check Google calendar/RSVP's/Bulletin Board
  6. Swiffer dust downstairs
  7. Swish/Wipe downstairs bathroom
  8. Prep for dinner if possible

and my bed time routine is

  1. sweep kitchen floor
  2. shine sink & make sure kitchen is neat and tidy
  3. take out food to defrost food for following day
  4. check hot spots- dining room table, hallway & stairs
  5. clean E's toys
  6. shower yada yada yada
  7. lay out clothes for next day- mine and E's
  8. RELAX!
Both routines take me no time at all. Pete also has a few things he is doing that make my life much easier. As of right now this system is working for me. I finally feel like I have things coming together! Let's just see if I can keep it that way.

Can the FlyLady save me?

A long time ago I wrote a post about how disorganized I am and how I long for an organized mess free home like the one where I grew up. I know my parents would disagree but neatness and the ability to stay organized a definitely nature and not nurture! I was neat when I was younger (sometimes) because I was forced to be neat. Yes I shined the faucets in the shower after I was finished because that is what you did or the DRAGON LADY (aka my mom) would destroy you with her fiery wrath. I enjoyed living in a neat abode- I just never really grasped how to achieve one. You think I would have after living home for a zillion years. However, without a game plan (written down) I kinda just float around not knowing what to do. I am busy- doing what- who the heck knows? Most likely I am starting and not finishing projects. Now I realize neatness is just not part of my programming and being a scatter brained mess is what I know- and now I need to reprogram or else I will be buried under the clutter and no one will find me until something starts to smell.

Way back when someone commented I should check out FlyLady and I tucked it in the back of my head and it has been festering there for quite a while. Earlier this week I decided I was going to get organized once and for all. I googled this FlyLady and she makes a lot of sense. Little by little I have been trying to get myself in order. I have started being much more diligent and things around here are really shaping up. I do miss tossing my dirty cloths on the floor at night but I guess hanging them up will have to work! It is kinda nice to see the bedroom floor. Who knew?

So I am going to give it a go for a month and I'll let you all know how I am doing. I sure hope this FlyLady can help me!

In case your wondering. The flylady's first order of business. Shine Your Sink! Well, what are you waiting for- go get shining!!!!!
