A Family Outing

Today was the Autism walk and I am exhausted! We had to leave the house by 8:00 because it was about an hour and a half away. Of course I had to run into Target to get sunscreen for Eliza because I am last minute with everything. Typical! Our trip was uneventful and E slept the whole ride there.

When we arrived I decided to put the lotion on Eliza straight away. I opened the cap and discovered it was ORANGE! So I did my best to lather her up without getting her clothes stained. For the most part I did an excellent job- if you don't count her now orange stained socks. I hope orange is the new pink! It was also really sticky just like they said it was over at Safe Mama Blog. So basically Eliza was an orange sticky mess- but at least she was protected from the sun.

We registered and then it was time for Eliza's Num Nums. This was our first time giving solids away from home. I fumbled a bit getting things together. I was not really sure where to place things while trying to get things ready and keep everything from touching the ground. Hopefully people were focused on Eliza and not looking at her mommy enter uncharted territory. Overall, it went smoothly. Here is daddy feeding her some yummy oatmeal and pears.

OPEN WIDE!!

Next it was time for some baby wearing. I started out with her in the back carry but she wasn't a happy camper so I ended up moving her to the front. She was really content like this and it worked out really well.
Here we are in action. Eliza is too concerned with all of the other people to look at her daddy.

Overall the walk was a huge success. They raised about half a million dollars-which is AMAZING! It really is such a great cause. It was a great family outing for us and I hope we get to walk again next year. We had a lot of firsts and our new parentyness came out for sure. Hope nobody was watching us too closely.
The ride home was as uneventful as the ride there- except this time Eliza and Mommy both took a nap.

Looks like you had a great family outing. Even though it wasn't easy, I am sure you feel really good about what you did. Way to go!!

This makes me think about how I could probably do more for other people or all of the many good causes out there such as autism, cancer, march of dimes, etc....haven't really done anything philanthropic since theta phi alpha stuff back in the day. Let me know if you participate next year and maybe I will join you :)

too bad i won't get to do any babywearing there unless i can borrow a baby from someone LOL

Good for you for supporting such a great cause!!

Eliza looks so cute in her hat. Babies in hats are the best!

Sounds like a picture perfect day...what a cool MT!

Eliza looks really happy eating her oatmeal and pears outside...see...she didn't care where she was eating as long as she was eating!!

Half a mil is AWESOME!!!

I am glad everything went so smoothly. I love when babies nap in the car. For some reason, my children fight sleep when we are driving. They would rather whine and cry during the drive home.
