Video Time

Eliza and I were having some video camera fun last night. I have been wanting to make videos of different carriers and carries for a while. Last night I decided to do a front carry in the Mei Tai. It only took us three tries and one pizza delivery to get this video done! I am realizing the intro was cut off. Also, pay no mind to the toddler standing on a rocking chair in the background. Enjoy!

Playing Catch Up!

I feel like I have been so busy since school ended. Here is a post to play a little catch up.

Eliza has been moving a lot. Her new favorite thing is to find microscopic fuzzies on the carpet. So now I am vacuuming and sweeping everyday. She also enjoys eating paper. Since she started crawling she has been go, go, going! I can't believe how fast she is developing. Where did my baby go? She no longer wants to be contained in any way which makes getting things done rather difficult. Here is my little momma on the move...

The wedding was amazing. We all had an awesome time and I can't believe it is over. The bride and groom are off enjoying their honeymoon. Here are some pics from the night taken by one bridesmaids' fiancee. You can see all of his work from the night here. My hubs took a zillion awesome pics too but he is working on editing them.

Cloth diapering is going well. We have had a couple leaks. I definitely prefer one brand of diapers so far. However, overall I am very impressed by all of the brands. The only problem is that Eliza has been going #2 like five times a day for some reason so I have had a big mess. My MIL suggested dunking the diapers to get the goo off. I would love any suggestions on this nasty duty!

My niece Alli has been with me for a little over a week. We have been keeping very busy. She has been grating old candle and making new candles from the shavings. She has also been melting down old crayons and putting them into candy mold to make new crayons. She did a post on it-but I haven't had time to add pictures.

On the baby wearing front...

I have been working on the hip carry in my Mei Tai and on getting Eliza on my back with no help. Yesterday I received a Gypsy Mama wrap I ordered (after winning some money) so I am stoked to try out some carries with a SPOC!

A Family Outing

Today was the Autism walk and I am exhausted! We had to leave the house by 8:00 because it was about an hour and a half away. Of course I had to run into Target to get sunscreen for Eliza because I am last minute with everything. Typical! Our trip was uneventful and E slept the whole ride there.

When we arrived I decided to put the lotion on Eliza straight away. I opened the cap and discovered it was ORANGE! So I did my best to lather her up without getting her clothes stained. For the most part I did an excellent job- if you don't count her now orange stained socks. I hope orange is the new pink! It was also really sticky just like they said it was over at Safe Mama Blog. So basically Eliza was an orange sticky mess- but at least she was protected from the sun.

We registered and then it was time for Eliza's Num Nums. This was our first time giving solids away from home. I fumbled a bit getting things together. I was not really sure where to place things while trying to get things ready and keep everything from touching the ground. Hopefully people were focused on Eliza and not looking at her mommy enter uncharted territory. Overall, it went smoothly. Here is daddy feeding her some yummy oatmeal and pears.

OPEN WIDE!!

Next it was time for some baby wearing. I started out with her in the back carry but she wasn't a happy camper so I ended up moving her to the front. She was really content like this and it worked out really well.
Here we are in action. Eliza is too concerned with all of the other people to look at her daddy.

Overall the walk was a huge success. They raised about half a million dollars-which is AMAZING! It really is such a great cause. It was a great family outing for us and I hope we get to walk again next year. We had a lot of firsts and our new parentyness came out for sure. Hope nobody was watching us too closely.
The ride home was as uneventful as the ride there- except this time Eliza and Mommy both took a nap.

Sling Stash

Steph over at Adventures in Babywearing had an awesome idea for this post. Check out her blog to see that I really don't have that many carriers.

I wish, wish, wish I had more carriers-but I don't. I am working on building my stash. I love my ring slings. I really liked my pouch but can't use it anymore after losing some weight. Here is what I could find pics of...

Holding my breath and New Mei Tai Moves

I have pretty much been a nervous wreck all day because I gave Eliza some oatmeal this morning. It was her first time with solids since the ER trip last Sat. I know the doc. thinks it was a stomach flu but I can't get past the idea it might have been a rice allergy. So I have been watching her like a hawk all day and holding my breath.

Also, this past weekend I decided to try a new carry with my Mei Tai. It is the high back carry. I need Pete's help with it before I can do it on my own. I did use the shoulder toss to get her up there. I still need a LOT of practice with this one. It went reasonable well. This carry also seems to be kitty friendly
Pay no attention to the snowman pajama pants!
