Happy 11 Month Birthday!

Happy 11 months to Eliza Marie!

IMG_9681

I feel like I haven't posted anything with content in quite a while. That would actually require me to sit down and use my brain- and who has time for that these days. I guess things have been pretty smooth with E so I haven't felt a need to vent-which is always a good thing.

The only real problem we have had is with temper tantrums. I didn't realize that babies started showing a temper this early but I was WRONG! Eliza is as strong willed as ever and if she doesn't get what she wants she lets me know. If I am holding her she throws her head back straightens her legs and lets out a wail. If she is on the ground she might throw herself face first into the carpet. I have noticed she was much more irritable when her two teeth were coming in. Now that they broke through the skin she is much more mild mannered. Also, she gets upset when she has to get out of the tub. So now I make a big deal about singing the clean up song And putting her toys away so we don't blindside her that bath time is over.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on activities I could do with her during the day. I need to fill the 12 odd hours I spend with her ALONE each day. What do you do with your little ones?

In bigger news...

We are trying for a second bundle of joy. I glanced at the Shettles method because I figured it might be fun to try for a boy. Who knows how long it will take. When we first started trying in 2006 it was a little tough. I had a very early miscarriage on Thanksgiving. Luckily, we got pregnant with E the very next time we gave it a go. I am trying to be very blase about it this time and not get as crazed as I did with E!

Also...

We met baby Stella this weekend. She is asleep in her comfy Sleepywrap from Heavenly Hold!

some of Blake's favorite things at that stage were... read, play outside, run around the couch, play with his trucks/cars/etc..., anything to do with music... sleep!

good luck TTC, it took us 3 months to get pregnant the first time, 2 months with Blake and only 1 month with Colby... so don't assume that just because it took a while before that it will take a while again!

we play outside a lot, if it's hot then we use the sprinkler set really low or the kiddie pool. we also like sidewalk chalk, finger painting, reading, music. i'll admit its a little boring for me, but as long as emmett is amused and learning, then i guess i am happy.

good luck on ttc! just to warn you, based on the method you are trying, we thought we were going to have a girl and we ended up with a boy! i guess nothing is fool-proof! :)

My friend takes her baby to the library for storytime. He loves the children's book area -- lots of toys and cushions. He's 18 months now, but she's been doing it ever since he was about 8 months. And it's free!

Best of luck to you on TTC! Siblings are the greatest!

Congrats on TTC! I made Play Doh with K, got her "tadoodles" crayons, puzzles, she loves the game Jenga (just to make a mess with), blocks, we have a wagon we walk around in, and the best time we have is when we have play dates! I can't wait to stay at home with her next year! I'm counting down the days of school left! 174!!! Thanks for the plug!

Happy 11 month birthday to Eliza Marie.
Mine is only 9 months old and so I just take her out for a walk and if weather permits stay in the park. but in general she's happy crawling at home:) Check your local library maybe they have a story time telling, like what we have here. Or maybe there are matinee theaters for children.anyway, goodluck for the 2nd baby-hope it will be a boy.

Happy 11th month, E! And happy trying!

I emailed you already about our "curriculum" - back then it included things like music time (playing on the keyboard, playing with drums, listening to action music cds), computer time (mostly watching kiddy videos online), outside time (playing in dirt or however the spirit moved), snack time (often she "helped" in the kitchen), reading, art time, exercise, "act of kindness" (like delivering an apple or soda to someone, making a card, mailing a letter, etc.), and special excursions (walk, mini-zoo, playgroup, grocery shopping, etc.).

I admit to feeling a little insane at that age trying to keep us both entertained. It does get easier - she entertains herself a little more now.

Stella is beautiful! Good luck TTC!! How exciting! I think Lillian started having little power struggles at that age, too. I would just let her get it out and then try again. :)

Happy 11 months! I can't remember what we did back then! I do know the weather was miserable though, I think we went on lots of visits to other people's houses to get me out of the house!

I am having my first blog carnival on Monday about this very topic, everyone is going to share a regular day in their household with their kids, I'd love if you could join in!

good luck TTCing :)
