Babywearing with the Jelly bean

I had so much fun wearing Eliza last time I was at Danielle's, I had mentioned to her how I would like to do some babywearing of my own...my nephew Owen is about the same age as Eliza and I wanted to wear him. Considering all of the grief I get for buying baby gear, I thought that it would be a little insane to go out & buy a sling (even though I really wanted to). Danielle had this great sling at her house but it was too big for her, so she gave it to me! It is the jelly bean sling by Munchkin. This particular model is reversible and can be used 5 different ways. Since I am just a novice babywearer, I have been sticking with the hip carry because it is super comfortable & he loves it. I was just telling Dana that the last time I was on the phone with her for about 20 minutes, I was just walking in circles around the house talking & he fell asleep! I guess that is a testimonial for how comfy they are.

Obviously we all know the many benefits of wearing your baby (or someone else's haha). Most importantly for me, he never cries while he is being carried around in the sling! He really enjoys being up high and I can get everything done that I need to while wearing him.

Here are some pics of us using the jelly bean sling...they are not the greatest photos in the world because the only person around to take them was my 3 year old niece. I think she did a pretty good job considering she has no practice with a camera (mostly because I am the only crazy person who would give her one)! Thanks again Danielle for this great sling :)

Here we are trying it out for the first time

He fell asleep while I was on the phone, so I just kind of dumped him out onto the floor!

Trying the hip carry again another day...I think I'm getting the hang of it!

Decided to go crazy and try the front carry. I think this one is more difficult for both of us :)

Here is Owen trying to climb back into the sling after I took him out! He loves it!

Munchkin Giveaway Update

It is with deep regret that I write this post. All I can say is that I am a bone- head. BIG TIME! The winner of my Munchkin basket giveaway lives in Malaysia. My mom, faithful FedEx employee, was planning to ship my basket and said no deal on shipping to Malaysia. So I contacted Bunny and we are working it out. She won't go away empty handed. I really feel horrible and should have specify who could enter. I was naive and did not think about it at the time- I guess I did not realize my blog reached mommies so far away. I am sorry again, and again, and again.

Sooooooooo I had to go through the process of picking another winner for the basket. I knew I should have kept all the names the first time I wrote them down.

You live and you learn. That is what I have to say about my first giveaway.

Anyhoo,
Th new winner is Christy from Cakerwakers. Congrats!!!

I am back- and wearing my baby

The holiday season was crazy but I think things are finally winding down. I have started pumping less and pretty soon Eliza will be getting formula. The time is passing quickly and my munchkin is growing before my eyes. Anyway, my new favorite topic is baby wearing. I have always been interested in baby wearing but I have really been getting into it over the past few weeks. Since Eliza was born I have sampled about five carriers and I look forward to getting more. My first carrier was the Bjorn- which from what I have read is not that popular among baby wearers. However, when you are first starting out it is one of the few carriers they carry at Babies R Us. I registered for it thinking my husband would also use it because it is 1) Adjustable and 2) not that feminine. However, even though I beg and plead my DH does not seem to be into wearing Eliza. I hope to persuade him to try it over the next few weeks. I like but do not love the Bjorn. It is not great for wearing around the house – it just feels silly. I always feel like I should be going on a hike when I am wearing that contraption. I haven’t tried it with the baby facing out yet. I also read that it isn’t wise to wear the baby facing outward because they cannot turn away from stimulation- which makes sense to me. I did use it at Barnes and Noble the other day and Eliza was still fussy. I will try to post pics of me using the Bjorn- but I think the only ones I have are pretty lousy.
